1. Introduction
LocalSplit is an AI-driven mobile application designed to split audio into vocals and background tracks, and export them as video or audio files. The AI separation runs entirely on your device — your audio and video files are processed locally and are never uploaded to our servers.
We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. If you have any questions or concerns about our policy or our practices regarding your personal information, please contact us as provided in the Contact Us section below.
2. Data We Collect
We collect certain information automatically as you use the App. The types of data we collect include:
-
Usage Data:
- File Information: File formats and extensions used by the users.
- Activity Logs: Logs that record when you play an audio file, split the audio, and export the audio.
-
Error and Crash Data:
- Information about errors that occur during app usage.
- Crash reports including technical details about the app crashes.
-
Feedback Data:
- Content of feedback you submit through the app.
- App version and device information necessary to address reported issues.
-
Advertising Data (free version only):
- Advertising identifiers, such as the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA) on iOS and the Google Advertising ID (AAID) on Android.
- Device information (such as device model, operating system version, and language) and IP address.
- Approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Ad interaction data, such as ad impressions and clicks.
This data is collected by our advertising partner (Google AdMob) to serve and measure ads. See Advertising and Your Choices.
-
Purchase Data (if you buy Remove Ads):
- A record that you have purchased the "Remove Ads" upgrade, stored locally on your device and associated with your app-store account.
- We do not collect or store your payment card details. All payments are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play (see In-App Purchases).
Important: Your audio and video files themselves are processed on your device and are never uploaded to our servers or shared with advertising partners.
3. How We Collect Data
The data collection in our App is conducted through the following services:
- Firebase Analytics: Used to collect usage data such as file formats, user interactions (e.g., playing, splitting, and exporting audio), and overall app usage.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Used to capture error and crash data to help us improve the stability and performance of the App.
- Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob): Used to request, display, and measure advertising in the free version of the App, and to collect the advertising data described above.
- In-App Purchases (Apple App Store / Google Play): Used to process the optional "Remove Ads" purchase and to restore prior purchases.
The data collected by these services is transmitted to and processed by the respective providers in accordance with their own privacy policies and practices. For more details on how Firebase handles data, please refer to the Firebase Privacy & Security Information.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
- Enhancing User Experience: To understand user interactions within the App and improve overall functionality.
- App Improvement: To diagnose and fix issues, ensuring a more stable and reliable performance.
- Analytics: To analyze usage trends and make informed decisions about future updates and features.
- User Support: To respond to your feedback, answer questions, and provide assistance with app-related issues.
- Advertising: To display and measure ads in the free version of the App, including selecting personalized or non-personalized ads based on your consent and device settings.
- In-App Purchases: To process the "Remove Ads" upgrade, remove advertising for you, and restore your purchase across reinstalls on the same store account.
Except for advertising data (which our advertising partner processes as described below), the data is processed in aggregate form and is not used to personally identify individual users.
5. Third-Party Services
Our App integrates with third-party services to provide functionality, collect analytics, and serve advertising:
- Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics — see Privacy and Security in Firebase.
- Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads) — serves advertising in the free version. See the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — process in-app purchases and, where applicable, download and platform data according to their own privacy policies.
Each of these services collects and processes data according to its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review those policies for more information about how they handle your data.
6. Advertising and Your Choices
The free version of LocalSplit displays advertising provided by Google AdMob. Ads may be personalized (based on advertising identifiers and inferred interests) or non-personalized (based only on contextual information), depending on your consent and device settings.
You have several ways to control advertising:
- European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland: Before serving personalized ads, we present a consent form (via Google's User Messaging Platform) that lets you accept or decline. You can change your choice later from within the App. If you decline, you will still see non-personalized ads.
- iOS (App Tracking Transparency): iOS asks for your permission before the App can access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). If you decline, ads become non-personalized. The App remains fully functional either way — declining does not limit any feature.
- Android: You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in your device's Google settings.
- Remove Ads: You can permanently remove all advertising by purchasing the optional "Remove Ads" upgrade (see In-App Purchases).
Advertising, the advertising SDK, and the consent/tracking prompts described above apply to the iOS and Android versions only. The macOS version of LocalSplit is ad-free.
7. In-App Purchases
LocalSplit offers a single optional, one-time purchase, "Remove Ads", which permanently disables advertising in the App for your store account.
- Payment processing: Purchases are processed entirely by the Apple App Store (on iOS) or Google Play (on Android). We never receive or store your credit card number or payment credentials. We only store a local record indicating that ads have been removed.
- Restoring purchases: You can restore a previous purchase from the App's settings using the same store account. The purchase is tied to the store account used to buy it (your Apple ID on iOS or your Google account on Android).
- Cross-platform note: A purchase made on iOS does not carry over to Android (and vice versa); a separate purchase is required per platform. See our FAQ for details.
- Refunds: Refund requests are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play in accordance with their respective policies.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the data collected through our App. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
- Local Processing: Our App processes your audio and video files locally on your device; this media content is never uploaded to our servers.
- Encryption: Data sent to third-party services (such as Firebase and Google AdMob) is encrypted during transit.
9. Children's Privacy
LocalSplit is not directed to, or intended for use by, children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not knowingly serve personalized advertising to them.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete that information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected].
10. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may have specific privacy rights under laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA.

- Right to Know: Request information about the personal data we have collected, used, disclosed, or shared.
- Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal data (with certain exceptions).

California "Sale"/"Share" Disclosure: We do not sell your personal information for money. However, when you consent to personalized ads, advertising identifiers may be shared with Google for cross-context behavioral advertising, which may be considered a "sale" or "share" under California law. You can opt out of this at any time by declining the consent prompt (EEA/UK/CH), declining App Tracking Transparency (iOS), limiting ad personalization in your device settings (Android), or purchasing "Remove Ads."
How to Exercise Your Rights:
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Rights Request". We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
11. International Data Transfers
Our data collection and processing practices may involve the transfer of your information to servers located in different countries. We take appropriate measures to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
